Doug Runchey worked for more than 30 years for the federal government as a manager in the Income Security Programs department. During that time, he provided expert testimony in court on legislation and Canada Pension Plan (CPP) benefit calculations. He also created CPP calculation spreadsheets that were widely used by staff to answer client telephone inquiries. Since 2013, Mr. Runchey has operated DR Pensions Consulting. His services include auditing current CPP benefit calculations, providing calculations of future CPP benefits, and calculating the potential results of CPP creditsplitting actions. Clients have included lawyers, financial planners, as well as the general public.
Mr. Runchey has been consulted as an expert on Canadian pensions for articles in MoneySense magazine, the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Wealth Professional, and MSN Money. He has written numerous articles on Canadian pension‐related topics for the highly‐regarded Retire Happy website and contributes regularly to several financial forums.
