Melissa Shin

Melissa Shin, editorial director, Advisor.ca and Investment Executive

With more than 15 years of financial reporting and newsroom management experience, Melissa Shin heads Newcom Media Inc.’s suite of industry-leading English and French investment publications. Her work has been cited in university syllabi, in textbooks and to national regulators. She has won awards from CFA Society Toronto, the Portfolio Management Association of Canada and Women in Communications and Technology, as well as a fellowship from the Institutes for Journalism and Natural Resources.

Before joining the Advisor.ca team in 2011, Melissa was managing editor of Corporate Knights, an independent magazine focused on clean capitalism. A graduate of the Schulich School of Business at York University, Melissa is the vice-chair of the board of Fashion Takes Action, a non-profit focused on advancing sustainability in the fashion industry.
